Rates without INI archaeology, mod load order that matters, clusters, and admin that doesn't need a restart.
ASA is the heaviest of the three games we support and the fussiest to administer. Its settings are spread across multiple INI files with names that don't match what you'd call them, its mods care about load order, admin isn't a command you can type at a player, and it eats memory in a way that depends on which map you're running.
Here's what OverWarden does about each of those.
Taming speed, harvest amounts, XP, day length, structure limits, tribe rules — as named controls, with a live preview of the INI OverWarden is going to write. You can see exactly what will land in the file before it does, which matters when you've been burned by a setting that silently didn't apply.
It also understands ARK's own setting names, so a value you found in a guide can be asked for by that name rather than translated by hand.
ASA mods can conflict depending on which loads first, so load order is a real setting and not a detail. OverWarden manages your mod list and its order, and can search CurseForge live to find mods by popularity with download counts and authors. It tells you when a mod you're running has published an update — and reports it rather than restarting your server behind your back.
ARK has no op <name>. Admin access is an allowlist of
EOS account IDs, and the server re-reads that file while it's running.
OverWarden looks up the player's EOS ID from the live player list and adds it
for you, so admin takes effect immediately, with no restart.
It only ever adds — it won't quietly remove someone else's access — and it
snapshots before writing.
If you use Discord, that can be automatic: give someone a role, and when they link their account they're added to the allowlist.
ASA's appetite depends on the map. OverWarden suggests a starting RAM allocation for the map you choose instead of one number for everything, and it blocks allocations your machine can't safely give once Windows has had its share — a blocked allocation is better than a server that dies under load at the worst moment.
If a server does run out of memory, OverWarden says so plainly, with what it actually observed, instead of leaving you to read a crash dump.
Run more than one map and let survivors move between them with their characters, items and tames. OverWarden handles the cluster setup so the maps agree with each other.
ASA writes a game log that OverWarden reads to produce real events — joins
and leaves, tribe log moments, tames, deaths, boss fights — which feed the
activity feed and can post to Discord. Chat can be relayed both ways with
Discord, and your friends can run commands like /status and
/restart from there without touching the dashboard.
OverWarden can download new ARK versions automatically. Backups save the world and wait for confirmation before archiving, then re-enable saving — even if the backup fails. Anything that changes the server snapshots first, so undo is one click.
